What is Dymondwood?

Dymondwood    Dymondwood

Dymondwood is a unique manufactured wood product that is resistant to moisture and heat. It is a laminated wood product that is impregnated with an epoxy type resin, which creates a very stable material. The layers of wood are colored in many unique combinations:

  Single color

Winewood
Turquoise
Walnut
Cocobolo

Blue
Cherry
Green

  Two Color Combinations

Black/Oak
Cherry/Black
Cocobolo/Blue

Walnut/Cherry
Walnut/Black
Winewood/Walnut

  Multi-Color Combinations

Black/Green/Cherry
Cherry/Walnut/Black

Walnut/Brown/Winewood
Natural/Cocobolo/Blue

...and many others.

What is stabilized wood?

Stabilized wood is natural wood that has been stabilized by forcing liquid acrylic resins into the wood under high pressure. This process makes the wood harder and stronger. Stabilizing wood protects it from moisture, cracking, temperature, and give the wood a nice finish that can be easily maintained.

This process makes available for knife handles certain woods that are too soft in their natural state, such as Splated Maple or Buckeye Burl.

We use stabilized wood on all of our knives when possible. Certain woods, such as Cocobolo, are so dense and oily they do not require stabilizing.
